Date Night

Friday evening Josh and I went on one more big date downtown to cross of a couple things off of our Chicago To-Do list. First we went to the top of the John Hancock Center. It's the 4th tallest building in Chicago, after the Sears/Willis Tower, Trump Tower, and Aon Center. We've tried to go since last November but everytime we were able to it was either rainy, cloudy, or something else came up.

We went to the 96th floor lounge restaurant and paid for overpriced potstickers and one sprite, but it was still less expensive than paying to go to the observatory. The views were great!

It's a long way down!

After the Hancock we ate dinner at Pizzeria Uno, where the Chicago deep dish pizza originated in 1943. Uno Chicago Grill is the 'same' chain restaurant, but they're not really the same! Sure, the chain restaurants are probably good, but they won't be the same as the original Pizzeria Uno. The pizzas will be prepared differently and the menu will be different. Pizzzeria Uno and Pizzeria Due (the sister restaurant) still offer the original menu. We wanted to try out the original deep dish just to see how good it really is. Lets just say it's like none other! I ate just one piece and was stuffed! It will be hard for us to find pizza like this ever again, unless we come back to visit Chicago.

Want to see what makes a Chicago pizza so special? It's the super thick, flaky buttery crust and the insane amount of cheese. And don't forget those toppings! The layer above the cheese is all sausage. They basically put a solid disc of sausage on top of the pizza. It's crazy! Oh, and the sauce is always on top, not under the cheese. It's not a pizza to be taken lightly, but it sure is yummy!
